MTSI is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in several technical disciplines (low observable, survivability, test, or nuclear engineering)  supporting requirements for the Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division, AFLCMC/NDB, Eglin AFB FL, which is part of the AF Nuclear Weapons Center. This Division has responsibility for developing, testing, and producing systems and components related to nuclear strategic weapon systems for our nation's warfighters. This position would support the Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) cruise missile program. The contractor shall provide SME support to AFNWC/NDB for timely achieving a MS B decision, and post-MS B acquisition management support for LRSO.


Job Responsibilities:


Note: The candidate must only be qualified in one of these disciplines to be considered qualified.


Duties include but not limited to:

Low Observable / Survivability:

  • Provide low observables and survivability engineering expertise supporting all aspects of system design, development, test, threat evaluation, modeling and simulation, and any additional tasks as assigned specifically related to survivability of the LRSO system.
  • Interface with the OEM prime contractors, subcontractors, USG government agencies, federally funded research and development centers and any other organizations per the direction of the LRSO government team on all LRSO survivability aspects of the program.

System Test:

  • Provide subject matter expert advice for LRSO flight and survivability test planning and test conduction at all contractor and/or government facilities.
  • Provide inputs to the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP). The TEMP identifies and integrates all of the test and evaluation requirements with the program’s Acquisition Strategy and requirements. A draft is due for the Development RFP Release Decision and is approved at Milestone B.

Nuclear Surety Engineering / Nuclear Hardness Engineering:

  • Provide subject matter expertise advice on nuclear surety design, verification and test activities to include cyber security and anti-tamper expertise.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice for LRSO nuclear hardness engineering design, verification and test activities.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Current Secret clearance (updated within last six years)
  • BS + 15 years relevant experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing


  • Experience as test range project officer
  • Experience as chief engineer or equivalent for development program
  • Master’s + 15 years, MS +15 years or PhD + 5 years relevant experience
