Responsibilities

Candidate will serve as the Radio Access Network (RAN) Technical Support Engineer supporting the USAFWC Project Management Team (PMT) for development of the 5G – Next G effort at Nellis AFB. Candidate will participate in and support of program design reviews, schedule meetings, liaison with test ranges, monitor performance parameters of experimental and operational systems during operations, support customer lab and customer markets for SW/ HW New Feature verification and validation, design and configuring the RNC and RNC Interfaces (Iu, Iub, Iur), integrate node Bs in the field, as needed, solve UTRAN technical issues, work with radio planning as required. Additionally, candidate will provide support on the 5G, LTE network, small cell, other projects and able to understand protocols of VoLTE and ViLTE, implement the knowledge of RAN Cloud and IoT, create and execute the test cases for the radio access network, organize the field trials of the new network, provide support and guidance to customers for operations and maintenance of network elements, monitor the network security plan, perform the network analyzer test with other tools for its performance, coordinate communications between customer, operation’s team, and field support system, and perform other position-related duties and assignments as directed.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
Candidate must possess a minimum of five years of experience with RAN topics and understand military use cases of advanced communications networks. Additionally, the candidate must have recent experience developing military and dual-use applications, including experimental technologies and equipment (phones, drones, cameras, ruggedized computers).

 

Desired Skills:  

Military experience with communication equipment highly desired but not required; experience mentoring more junior engineers is desired. Familiarity with Operational Command and Control systems (AOC/JOC/CRC) is desired.

 

Education Requirements:  

BS in technical field desired; High School diploma or equivalent required.

 

Security Clearance: 

Current Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility. Candidate must have ability to obtain access to Special Access Required (SAR) Programs and Special Technical Operations (STO).
