Provides on-site support to the government for DoD aircraft and aircraft weapon systems within the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for Platform and Weapon Portfolio Management (P&WPM). The Air Platforms & Weapons (AP&W) office is responsible for acquisition oversight of tactical fixed-wing fighters, unmanned aircraft systems, strategic bombers, battle management/command and control aircraft, air mobility aircraft, ISR aircraft and associated weapons and subsystems. Uses in-depth understanding of the DoD acquisition system; the DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution Process; and the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System process to provide recommendations at the SES level on the AP&W portfolio.


Supports P&WPM acquisition oversight and portfolio management activities including working groups, integrated product teams, and acquisition related studies. Develops issue papers and presentation for senior department executives; reviews and drafts congressional testimony and briefings; reviews acquisition documents and policy directives; prepares read-aheads and talking points; supports program reviews and develops recommendations; supports GAO reviews and develops responses; performs FOIA and security reviews, interfaces with industry; participates in reviews, studies, analysis of alternatives; and coordinates initiatives across external offices and agencies.


Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in engineering, science or Acquisition Management with 5+ years of experience in DoD acquisition or bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of DoD acquisition experience. Experience with aviation programs or Major Defense Acquisition Programs desired.
  • 10+ years of work experience.
  • Higher Headquarters experience working directly with SES and General officers desired. Pentagon experience preferred.
  • Excellent writing ability and experience with Microsoft Office (especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

Clearance Requirements:

Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
