Army Aviation Program Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting Future Vertical Lift Program Managers (PM) in the Program Executive Office (PEO) Aviation in Huntsville, AL.  The SME is a resident expert in all facets of program acquisition and experienced in Army Aviation operations.  SME will aid PM and support development of integrated program plans, cost, schedule and performance planning, incremental development strategies and interface with other PMs and PEOs.


Responsibilities include:

Assist the PM staff with

  • Developing and/or reviewing program acquisition strategies, plans and documentation
  • Developing and monitoring incremental development strategies
  • Reviewing contractor programmatic and technical submissions
  • Interface and integration with other PMs and PEOs
  • Supporting program reviews



  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field and twenty (20) years of experience
  • Master’s degree and fifteen (15) years or more experience.
  • PhD and 10 years related experience

Required Skills:

  • Experience in a Aviation Program Management Office
  • Previous Army Aircraft pilot experience as a rated aviator/operator in one or more of the Army’s primary aircraft (AH-64, CH-47, UH-60, UH-72, or C-12/RC12) or unmanned systems (RQ-7 or MQ-9)
  • DAWIA Level III certification in either Program Management, Systems Engineering or Test and Evaluation


MUST have Secret Security or higher clearance; prefer a current ACTIVE Secret or higher clearance


Desired Skills:

Graduate Navy Test Pilot School or equivalent

Experience on a PEO Staff


Travel: 10% of time, some international travel may be required
